Most Viking faults come down to five parts, checked in this order.
Professional cooking equipment is built to be repaired rather than replaced. Burners, manifolds and gas valves outlast everything around them; what actually wears out is a short list, and it is close to the same list on every call we take in Clay County. The survey works down it in order — likeliest and cheapest first, the control board last.
-
Ignition
A surface or oven igniter that glows bright orange and still will not draw the current it takes to open the gas valve. It looks healthy. It is not.
-
Spark
A spark module that keeps ticking after the burner has lit, because a boil-over ran down behind a knob and got into the switch.
-
Sensing
An oven temperature sensor that drifted rather than died. The oven still works, which is exactly why it goes unreported for a year.
-
Seal
A heavy door past what hinge and spring adjustment can recover. The cavity bleeds heat, the control fires longer, and it reads as an oven running hot.
-
Control
A board taken out by a storm-season power event. Roughly 68 thunderstorm days a year make this the part most likely to end a range's service life.
- Diagnostic
- $129 flat — credited toward the repair when you approve the work
- Warranty
- 90 days labour · 365 days parts
- Credential
- EPA Section 608 certified technicians
One manufacturer. Viking, and nothing else.
A shop that claims every brand carries none of the parts. Working a single manufacturer is what puts the right igniter, spark module and oven sensor on the van before the first visit instead of after it.
- 01
Professional range repair
Sealed burners, the spark system, the oven cavity and the door. A range is four separate systems in one cabinet, and each one fails in its own way.
- 02
Rangetop and cooktop repair
A rangetop has no oven to hide behind. Ignition, gas delivery and flame quality account for very nearly every call we take on one.
- 03
Built-in wall oven repair
A wall oven is a sealed box inside a cabinet. The part is rarely the hard part — getting the machine out of the wall and back in square is.
- 04
Built-in refrigeration repair
Columns, French-door built-ins, undercounter drawers and wine storage. Airflow, defrost and door seal explain most of it before the sealed system does.
- 05
Built-in dishwasher repair
Fill, wash, drain, dry. Four stages, and a dishwasher fault almost always belongs to exactly one of them once you have watched a cycle start.
- 06
Ventilation and hood repair
Blower, controls, lights and duct. A hood that fails to clear the air is usually failing at the duct, and no larger blower will fix that.
Outdoor grills too, though there is no page for them yet — call and describe it. Anything that is not a Viking we will say no to on the phone rather than waste your $129.
How a call runs
Five steps, in this order, every time. Skipping the survey is how a parts-changer ends up billing you twice.
- 01
Intake
On the phone: the model number off the rating plate, the symptom in your own words, and what changed just before it started. That call decides which parts ride out on the van.
- 02
Survey
On site, the fault gets reproduced before anything is opened. A range that will not light is four different repairs depending on whether the spark module, the igniter, the valve or the wiring is at fault.
- 03
Estimate
Written, itemised, and handed over before a single part is ordered. The $129 diagnostic comes off the total when you approve it.
- 04
Repair
Genuine OEM parts only. We do not fit aftermarket substitutes into a professional range.
- 05
Verification
The appliance is run before we leave — burners lit, oven brought to setpoint and checked against a probe, door closed on a fresh gasket. A repair that has not been tested is not finished.

Weather, dust and the install decide most of the work in Clay County
The weather does more damage to this equipment than the cooking does. This region sees roughly 68 thunderstorm days a year, and hurricane season adds outages on top of them — Matthew in 2016 and Irma in 2017 both left parts of Clay County without power for days. A control board rarely dies during the event. It dies weeks later, and by then nobody connects the two, so we ask about the power before we ask about the appliance.
Being inland changes the rest. Pull the grille on a built-in refrigerator here and the condenser is blanketed in dust, carpet fibre and pet hair rather than corroded the way an oceanfront unit corrodes — which is good news, because one of those is a vacuum cleaner and the other is a coil. On a July afternoon a fouled condenser alone will make a healthy unit look like a failing one.
The rest is the install. Professional equipment is heavy, it comes out on rails or on a dolly, it wants a dedicated circuit even when it burns gas, and in a retrofitted kitchen it usually got neither the opening nor the supply it specifies. Bring us the rating plate when you call: parts change mid-production, so the serial number decides which one is correct far more often than the model does.
- 01
Fleming Island
A peninsula of kitchens that got their professional equipment when the houses were built. What ends its service life is ignition, sensing, control and wear.
- 02
Eagle Harbor
A golf community whose kitchens mostly went in with the houses. That single fact decides which parts we carry to an Eagle Harbor address.
- 03
Pace Island
A gated riverfront community. Two things shape the work here: getting through the gate, and what a whole-house generator does to control electronics.
- 04
Hibernia Plantation
The oldest-settled corner of the island. Older houses mean retrofit kitchens, and a retrofit kitchen fails at the install before it fails at the appliance.
- 05
Doctors Lake
Both shores of the lake, from Doctors Inlet south. The recurring fault here is not a fault at all — it is refrigeration installed in air it was never rated for.

Recent surveys
Written up as they are worked, in the order the checks were made. No customer names and no case studies.
- 01
Storm season and control boards
August 14, 2026 Boards do fail here, and they mostly fail on a date rather than from age. That is a useful thing to know, because it changes the order of the whole survey.
- 02
When an oven drifts off setpoint
August 10, 2026 Four checks in order, cheapest and most likely first. Most ovens that will not hold temperature are not asking for a control board.
- 03
Heavy doors, hinges and springs
July 28, 2026 A door is a heat seal that happens to swing. When it stops closing square, the oven starts behaving like a sensor fault — and replacing the sensor changes nothing.

What owners said after the visit
4.4 out of 5, across 31 published owner notes. Read all of them.
The fresh food side sat around fifty while the freezer was perfectly fine. He pulled the toe grille and found the evaporator fan blade cracked, so no air ever crossed the coil. New fan and it came down overnight.
Marguerite O.
The griddle plate had warped and everything slid into one corner. Instead of selling me a plate straight off he checked the burner under it, found a frame leg sitting proud and shimmed it. That took most of the tilt out.
Trina S.
A gas smell near the back left burner had us worried enough to shut the valve off. He leak-tested every joint with solution, found a fitting that had worked loose, tightened and retested it, then said plainly what to watch for.
Camille A.
Asked and answered
- Which appliances do you work on?
- Viking only. Ranges, rangetops, wall ovens, built-in refrigeration, dishwashers, ventilation hoods and outdoor grills. Working on one manufacturer is what lets us carry the right igniters, spark modules and sensors on the van instead of ordering them after the visit. If your appliance is another make, we are not the right company for it and will say so on the phone.
- Are you affiliated with Viking?
- No. Keelson Appliance Service is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Viking or its parent company, Composition Brands. We name the brand only to identify the appliances we service. If you need work performed under the manufacturer's own warranty, contact Viking directly — that work has to go through their network, not through us.
- What does the first visit cost?
- A flat $129 diagnostic. It covers the trip, the survey and a written estimate, and it is credited toward the repair when you approve the work. There is no separate trip charge and no hourly meter running while we diagnose. You see the estimate before any part is ordered.
- What is covered after the repair?
- 90 days on labour and 365 days on the parts we supply. We fit genuine OEM parts only. Aftermarket igniters and sensors are the most common reason a professional range comes back a second time, so we do not fit them.
