What has a repair actually cost?
The visit is a flat $80, credited toward the repair when you approve the work. What the repair runs on Viking kitchen appliances is below, parts and labour together, before the written estimate narrows it to one figure.
| Work | Parts and labour |
|---|---|
| Diagnostic visit | $80 flat, credited |
| Igniter or burner assembly | $210–$520 |
| Oven thermostat or heating element | $190–$610 |
| Control board or touch panel | $380–$940 |
| Refrigeration fan or defrost system | $250–$610 |
| Dishwasher pump or control | $230–$660 |
| Compressor or sealed-system repair | $960–$2,580 |
| Replace with | Appliance only |
|---|---|
| Professional range, the usual repair-or-replace comparison | $6,500–$14,500 |
| Built-in refrigerator or column | $9,500–$17,500 |
| Built-in dishwasher | $1,600–$3,200 |
It is a band and not a price because one symptom is usually several repairs, and they do not cost the same. The survey is what picks which one it is.
Included
- The trip out to the address, inside the regular service area.
- Reproducing the fault, rather than taking the symptom at face value.
- The survey itself — meter readings, current draw on an igniter, resistance on a sensor, gasket and hinge check.
- A written estimate, itemised into parts and labour.
- A plain answer on whether the repair is worth doing against the age of the appliance.
Not included
- Parts. Those are quoted on the estimate and ordered only after you approve it.
- Labour on the repair itself, which is quoted the same way.
- A second appliance in the same house. Each one is its own survey and its own fee.
- Work on any make other than Viking. We decline those on the phone.
The table above is a band and not a price, because a burner that will not light is at least four repairs — a seated cap, a blocked port ring, a flame-sensing thermocouple, a spark module wet from a spill — and they do not cost the same. A single typical figure would be right about none of them. The band is the span the work has run across parts and labour; the survey is what picks which repair it is.
So you get a fixed, known cost to find out, and a written number before anything is ordered. If the estimate has stopped making sense against the age of the appliance, we will say so in those words. Declining the repair costs you the $80 and nothing more, and you keep the written estimate.
Outside the regular Clay County run — roughly 30 miles from Fleming Island — ask on the call. We would rather tell you the honest answer about a long-run address than take the booking and resent the drive.
Asked about the bill
- What does the first visit cost?
- A flat $80. It covers the trip, reproducing the fault and the whole diagnostic sequence, and it is credited toward the repair when you approve the work. No separate trip charge, and no hourly meter running while the fault is surveyed. You get a written estimate before any part is ordered or any labour is billed.
- Why are the repair figures printed as ranges?
- Because one symptom is several repairs. The band is what the work has actually run across parts and labour; the survey is what picks which repair it is. A single typical figure would be right about none of them.
- What is not inside the $80?
- Parts and the labour to fit them, both quoted on the estimate and ordered only once you approve it. A second appliance in the same house is its own survey and its own fee. Another make we decline on the phone.
What owners said about the estimate
4.5 out of 5, across 70 published owner notes. Read all of them.
The oven door had dropped far enough that the light stayed on with it shut. He rebuilt the hinges and fitted a fresh gasket, which brought the seal back. It is still a heavy door, but it closes square now.
Emmett L.
The fresh food side sat around fifty while the freezer was perfectly fine. He pulled the toe grille and found the evaporator fan blade cracked, so no air ever crossed the coil. New fan and it came down overnight.
Marguerite O.
The door dropped instead of staying where I left it. He fitted new springs and cables, then set the tension so it holds halfway. Small job, and he still went over the latch and the seal while he had it open.
Wendell A.
